“Children’s Access to

Environmental Justice”

The Children’s Access to Environmental Justice EU research project, a multi-office, international collaboration between Fieldfisher and Child Rights International Network (CRIN), examined the intersection of children’s rights and environmental rights across the EU. CRIN is an international creative think tank focused on children’s rights, producing new perspectives on human rights issues through research and advocacy.

Fieldfisher was delighted to support CRIN with a core team across our London, Brussels, and Dublin offices. The final project report included important findings about the current EU regulatory framework and recommendations to improve protection of children’s rights concerning the environment through:

  • further integration of children’s rights into environmental policies,
  • formal legal recognition of the right to a healthy environment in EU law, and
  • increased awareness and education on environmental rights for children and stakeholders.

CRIN will be using Fieldfisher’s findings to inform its valuable policy work and advocacy in this area to protect children and their environment moving forward.
