Championing LGBTQ+ inclusion through storytelling and representation
Our Pride Network plays a key role in advancing visibility and inclusion. During Pride Month, we hosted a Lunch Seminar with Victoria Boydell, BAFTA-nominated film editor on Saltburn, Luther, Kidulthood, and Goodbye Christopher Robin.
Victoria spoke candidly about the importance of authentic LGBTQ+ representation in media, her approach to editing Saltburn through a queer lens, and the need to challenge reductive portrayals—particularly the tendency to depict lesbianism as a phase. The discussion also explored gender and parenthood in a male-dominated industry, the pressures of maintaining demanding work hours while raising a family, and the persistence of gender bias despite clear experience and credentials.
The evening with Victoria was fantastic. She provided insights into behind the scenes of filming a star-studded movie, and gave us the opportunity to come together to learn and network.
I see employee networks as a vital part of any business, but particularly in a profession which has a poor history with diversity. There is real value in them, and I am glad that Fieldfisher appreciates and supports networks in this way.
